Spooktacular Halloween Porch Decorations

Designing a frightful and delightful Halloween porch doesn’t have to take an eternity; in fact, it can be assembled in a couple of hours if you’re willing to get to work. Here are 3 easy ways to pull together your Halloween porch decorations depending how much time and effort you want to spend on it.

Basic

If you’re in a bit of a rush to get your porch ready for the big night, it’s best to keep it simple. A great place for inexpensive decorations is the dollar store. Load up on bags of cobwebs, plastic crows, gauss, and black bristol board or construction paper (all these items will come in handy).

Once you have all of your supplies, head to your porch/front door area. To get started, pick a focal point for your design and add smaller pieces around it. Your front door is a no-brainer choice for a focal point and can easily be dressed up in numerous ways.

This door mummy can be created in minutes using toilet paper or white streamers. Add some eyes (paper plates and marker would work) and you’ve got yourself a spooky monster to greet trick or treaters. Add in some festive pumpkins (carving optional) and you’re ready for all hallows’ eve.

Better

Your basic front porch looks pretty good, but could it look even better? Of course it could! If you’re prepared to get into some DIYs, you can easily elevate your porch from good to great.

No time to carve your pumpkins? No problem. Take the basic pumpkins you already have on your porch and give them some sparkle. Decorating with pumpkins instantly says fall, but pumpkins with glittery spiders on them say party! Get yourself some white school glue and glitter, and dress up those pumpkins for an added layer.

Another great way to incorporate your newly decorated pumpkins is to add in a swarm of bats. A bit more time consuming but worth it in the end, take your black construction paper and cut out as many bats as you can. Add them to the front of your house in a swarm for an instant creepy effect. A front porch covered in swarming bats and dressed up pumpkins will make it look like you’ve really taken your time to hit the right balance of creepy and cool.

Best

Just when you thought your front porch couldn’t look any better… It’s time to bring out the big crafts. A healthy mix of store bought items layered with your DIYs will help make your front porch the best on the block.

For a porch that looks like it took weeks of planning, layers are your secret weapon. Add on some more cobwebs, drape that dollar store gauze across your windows, and add some orange lights for good measure. Before you know it, you’ll have transformed your home into the haunted manor of your dreams.

If you’re looking to get really creative, extend your haunted scene further than your porch. Create a graveyard on your front lawn or try making some hanging ghosts. The amount of last-minute DIY decorations out there is scary, so you’ll have plenty to choose from when you’re ready.
